The LLCC Annual Fund
The LLCC Foundation Annual Fund is an ongoing fundraising effort. As a member in this special circle of supporters, your belief in LLCC is important in helping us build on the tradition of high quality, affordable education. Imagine how your gift can make a difference:

  • $35 equates to one stethoscope for a nursing student
  • $250 equates to tuition for one three-hour class
  • $500 equates to books for one student for one semester
  • $1,000 equates to one electric piano for a music lab
  • $2,700 equates to tuition and fees for one full-time student for one year

For more information on the Annual Fund, simply call the LLCC Foundation at 217-786-2785 or e-mail us at LLCC.Foundation@llcc.edu.

General Endowment Fund
The LLCC Foundation is committed to reaching for that next level of excellence in education. The endowment fund is a testament to our belief in Lincoln Land, our community and in the importance of guiding the students of today and tomorrow. The LLCC Foundation uses only the net income as a means of supporting areas of greatest need.

Scholarships
The gift of education is one of the greatest one can make. LLCC Foundation scholarships are made possible by supportive community businesses, organizations and individuals, as well as through the annual faculty and staff giving campaign.

Scholarships are a great way for you to honor a loved one, promote specific career fields, or simply fulfill a lifelong passion for helping others.  Our scholarship program is flexible and varied enough to allow you to achieve your philanthropic goals.  The LLCC Foundation staff is happy to work with you to customize your scholarship and to discuss a wide variety of options regarding donations and gifts.

There are two kinds of scholarships that you may establish:

  • Annual – A recommended amount of $1,000 is suggested.
  • Endowed – A minimum gift of $10,000 is invested.  Ways to reach this minimum include one-time cash gifts, stocks and gifts given over a period of time.  Only the net income from the endowment is allocated, leaving the principal intact.

As a donor, you are entitled to several benefits:

  • Name Your Scholarship – Honor your loved ones or promote your business or organization by personally naming your scholarship.
  • Determine Scholarship Criteria – This is where you set the goals and standards that students must meet.  Examples of criteria may include specific majors and career fields, grade point average, or specific county residencies.
  • Meet Your Recipient – The LLCC Foundation hosts an annual Scholarship Reception to give you and your student recipient an opportunity to meet one another.

Please know that gifts of all sizes are welcome and appreciated.  The LLCC Foundation also has a General Scholarship Fund and emergency fund among others that provide you with other options to help students.

Major and Planned Gifts

Major Gifts
Major gifts can be directed toward a variety of purposes that impact student learning at Lincoln Land Community College. Currently, Lincoln Land is growing to meet the needs of our district with three major building projects underway. Join us in our excitement as we watch LLCC grow in Springfield, Taylorville and Jacksonville. Consider permanently linking your name to the college and be part of building on a legacy!

You can also select a specific purpose that matches your personal interests with the needs and priorities of the College. Such purposes include faculty support, academic programs and scholarships.

To find out more, contact Karen Sanders, LLCC Foundation Executive Director at 217-786-2784.

Planned Gifts
The Lincoln Land Community College Foundation has a full range of opportunities for planned giving.

Planned gifts can offer tax savings, income streams, and investment benefits. They also are a way to make a gift that will live on - leaving a legacy that will make a difference for many generations to come. Planned gifts include wills/bequests, life insurance, pooled income funds, and charitable remainder trusts.

Planned gifts can be made for any purpose and in any amount.  Usually, a planned gift is much larger than an annual gift and requires the assistance of an attorney or the donor's advisor.  Many times, planned gifts are made through provisions in one's will; however, it is possible to make a planned gift while one is still living, through life insurance and charitable remainder trusts. In fact, any time you consider the timing or tax benefits of making a gift, you may be making a planned gift.

Planned giving arrangements can help you meet a number of financial goals, including planning for retirement, providing for elderly relatives, and funding educational expenses. These gifts can be funded with cash or appreciated securities. Options include the pooled income fund and charitable remainder trusts. The benefits vary, but all of these arrangements can do the following:

  • provide regular payments for you and/or your spouse or another person
  • reduce your tax bill with a charitable income tax deduction
  • enable you to "unlock" income from highly appreciated but low yielding assets while saving, delaying, or altogether avoiding capital gains tax
  • offer professional investment management
  • save estate and gift taxes

Gifts By Will
Your will is an extremely important document. It not only names the beneficiaries of your estate, but it also may set up trusts that will manage your property for years to come. In your will, you have probably identified a personal representative, perhaps even a guardian or trustee for minor children. You have planned and drafted your will as a final expression of your personal values and love for your beneficiaries.

Many who are concerned about preserving current income but still want to make a special gift to the Lincoln Land Community College Foundation decide to remember us in their wills. Gifts through bequests are an excellent way to leave a legacy of support for excellence in education. In addition, such gifts may reduce estate taxes.

We encourage donors to consult a professional financial advisor or legal counsel regarding estate planning. When making a deferred gift to the College, please consult your attorney, other appropriate advisors and the Lincoln Land Community College Foundation.

Language for your will:

I give, devise, and bequeath to Lincoln Land Community College Foundation, an Illinois charitable corporation, the sum of $______________ (or a description percentage of the specific asset) for the general purposes of helping students at Lincoln Land Community College.

If you would like more information about how to include the Foundation in your will or how to make a special gift to the College that provides you with annual payments, tax savings, and other benefits, please contact us at the address, telephone number, or e-mail address below.

We would also appreciate hearing from you if you have already included Lincoln Land in your will or long-range financial plans so we can ensure that your wishes are fulfilled.
